oh hey! it’s JJ. I hope your summer has been good. It's been a nice extended one here in Calgary and that don’t always happen. Our little family spent lots of time in the backyard, traveled to the west coast and hung out on the ocean with family and friends, my brother got married and I got a chance to play some cool shows…
But summer’s end. And now we’re back at it.
Today was a big day with a few things to catch you up on.
Have you watched the video for Already There yet?
If not, here it is. Freshly released into the wild! It features me in a white t-shirt instead of my standard black t-shirt look. It’s a reinvention similar to Madonna but less so.
Together with Vishal Paramon and Janelle Scott, we went down to Pitt-Addington Marsh in Beautiful BC. We had to side step a few wedding photographers and outdoor enthusiasts but Vishal was able to capture some really cool moments.
I’m so very grateful to Janelle Scott for all the hard work, time and energy she put into making this happen.
Arts and Crafts Music Publishing
Moving on from that, I’m so pumped to announce that I’ve signed with Arts & Crafts Music Publishing. This is exactly the type of partnership that I’ve been searching for. I believe it’s right where I belong, working with musicians and writers that I aspire to create with and musicians I hope to collaborate with. It allows me to focus on creating music that feels natural and authentic to me and allows me to continue to tell my story and that of the community around me. Thanks to Amy Eligh, Chloe Benner and Jill Snell for making it happen - I’m really excited about this next chapter and I can’t wait to share new music with you.
Which is coming…
I’ve got a brand new song that’s coming out…
But I’ll save that for another time.
Lastly, a couple weekends ago we said goodbye to Jer Friesen. An incredible memorial was held at Five Acres Farm (Ryan and Amanda McAllister’s place) with so many amazing stories about Jer and of how he had impacted all of our lives. Then we played some music with smiles on our faces and glassy eyes - we sure missed him holding down the low end. I’m became even more grateful for the music we made this past winter. If you didn’t see the post I made about his influence on my life and my music, please take a second to read that.
Hold each other close.
See ya down the road and thank you again for the support and listening to my tunes!
